The Three ProjectsI have been tasked with making three separate projects to demonstrate my knowledge of the Laser printer. I have created a water bottle, a Notebook, and a 3D Box to hold pencils. Through these I have demonstrated my abilities with the laser printer. I do not have images of any of these projects or of their creation because of recent events that cut my time short.

The Water BottleThe first project I worked on was the Water Bottle. The water bottle is engraved using a rotating jack that sits in the printer. I have not and most likely will not, have the chance to create it due to certain complications and as such do not have any photos of the bottle or the jack that is used to create it. I have created the files that are what would be used in the fabrication of this water bottle. I started by measuring the water bottle that I would use. I then made sure that the dimensions around the bottle were the same as the boarders on my illustrator page. I then uploaded a logo and turned it into a vector image and placed it where I wanted it.

The NotebookThe notebook was the next project I worked on. The task was to create a small 4.25in by 5.5in notebook by printing the front and back covers and placing those on top and bottom of some paper and then spiral binding the entire thing together. I started by making sure my notebook's dimensions were correct I then began adding images. I wrote my name on it and added an image for the back. I also added a logo to be cut on the bottom although it was tricky taking out the extra lines so I was left with only a solid outline.

The 3D BoxThe last creation was a 3D box. The task was to make something 3D by placing different parts cut from the laser printer together. I chose to create a pencil holding box so I would have something to store my pencils in. Instead of trying to build a box on my own I used an online generator to generate the 2D scales for the box. I plugged in the height, width, length and thickness of my box and got a 3D model of what it would look like. It looked good so me so I downloaded the plans. I then uploaded the plans to inventor and tweaked the colors and the outlines so it would work on the printer.

Summary
Unfortunately, because of complications due to the coronavirus I am not able to print my creations. This is not a problem. I have learned so much from this project despite not being able to print my creations out. I have learned more about sizing and designing objects so that they will look better from an artistic standpoint. I have learned how to import files from outside sources to be used in Illustrator. I have learned more about making sure that raster images come out cleanly when converted into vector images. I may be lucky enough one day to print these creations out but if not they are saved here in a testament to the work that I have done. Art, Engineering, and Science will still thrive despite whatever curve balls the world can throw at us.
